Kerry Blue Terrier

Note: If you have this breed, or know   anyone who does, please send a good profile photograph of the Dog (without humans in the background). We shall publish it on this page with credits. You can send it either by e-mail or post.

This is the national Dog of Ireland. A profuse beard that needs constant attention is very characteristic of this dog. It has a soft, silky and abundant coat which should be cut with scissors. Kerry Blue puppies are born black but change to blue between 9 and 24 months of age. In general, the earlier the change in colour, the lighter the eventual coat will be. It has a non-shedding top coat which makes it very suitable for households. It is an excellent guard, ratter and retriever. It weighs 15-17 kgs and is about 46-48 cms tall.
