Note: If you have this breed, or know
anyone who does, please send a good profile photograph of the Dog (without humans in the
background). We shall publish it on this page with credits. You can send it either by
e-mail or post.
The Deer hound was bred to course Deer to the dense
Scottish Highlands. The ownership of this graceful dog was once restricted to
Scottish
nobility. But with the felling of the forests and guns being used for hunting the breed
lost its popularity. It has a coat that is harsh and protects it from the cold. It weighs
36-45 kgs and is about 71-76 cms tall. It comes in fawn, red, red brindle, blue grey, grey
or black brindle in colour |
